Customize and Control Google Chrome Menu

Chrome Menu (customize and control Google Chrome) is located on the right side of the browser toolbar (the Omnibox). To open Chrome Menu, you need click on this icon you see below:

When you open Google Chrome Menu, you will see the following options in which you can customize and control.

New tab

There are different ways you can use to open a New tab in Google Chrome Browser. You can open a New tab using keyboard shortcut Ctrl+T, or just click on New tab on Chrome using your mouse.

New tab option is also available on the Chrome Menu. You can create a duplicate tab by right clicking on the tab you want to duplicate.

New window

When you are using Chrome, if you want to pen an entirely New window, just open Chrome Menu and click on the New window or you can open a New window using keyboard shortcut Ctrl+N.

You can open a New incognito window using keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N. Alternatively open Chrome Menu and click on New incognito window.

Note:You can also open a link in a New tab, New window or a New incognito window. Right click on the link you want to open and choose your method.

Bookmarks

Following options available in the bookmarks section:

  • Show bookmarks bar (Ctrl+Shift+B)
  • Bookmark manager  (Ctrl+Shift+O)
  • Import bookmarks and settings
  • Bookmark this page (Ctrl+D)
  • Bookmark open pages (Ctrl+Shift+D)

 Recent Tabs

If you’ve accidentally closed a tab, all is not lost! You can use the keyboard shortcut Crtl+Shift+T to bring it all back. Open Chrome Menu and select Recent Tabs. Now, you can choose the desired tab from the list under “Recently closed“.

 Switch between desktop and Windows 8 app mode

You can run Google Chrome in desktop mode and Windows 8 app mode. You can switch these options from Chrome Menu. Chrome will remember the mode last used and open in that mode next time you use Google Chrome Browser.

You can Cut, Copy and Paste text using this option. Alternatively use windows keyboard shortcuts.

  • Cut (Ctrl + X)
  • Copy (Ctrl + C)
  • Paste (Ctrl + V)

Zoom

Zoom feature will increase or decrease of the web page in percentages. Also full screen mode is available. You can also use keyboard shortcuts to use these options:

  • Zoom in  Ctrl and + (Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS) and and + (Mac).
  • Zoom out Ctrl and(Windows, Linux, and Chrome OS) and and (Mac).
  • Full Screen Mode  F11 (Windows and Linux) and ⌘-Shift-F (Mac).

 Save page as

You can save a page for offline viewing. Open Chrome Menu and click on Save page as… You can also use keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+S).

 Find

Search a page using this option or use keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+F) to open the search box.

Print

Print a web page using this option or use keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+P) to open printing options.

Tools

Following options available in the tools section:

  • Create application shortcuts
  • Extensions
  • Task Manager (Shift + Esc)
  • Clear browsing data (Ctrl + Shift + Del)
  • Encoding
  • View source (Ctrl + U)
  • Developer tools (Ctrl + Shift + I)
  • JavaScript console (Ctrl + Shift + J)
  • Inspect devices

 History

Check your browsing history or delete unwanted history with this option. Keyboard shortcut for browsing history is (Ctrl + H).

 Downloads

When you click on downloads, a new tab will open with downloads where you can remove or monitor your download status. Keyboard shortcut for Downloads is (Ctrl + J).

 Sign in to Chrome

You can sing in to Google Chrome with this option. Just login with your credentials.

Google Chrome’s Settings will open in a new tab when you click settings option.

About Google Chrome has the latest version information and option to manually upgrade Chrome if it has a newer version. You can get help and report and issue using this option.

Exit

You can exit Chrome by clicking on the top right corner of the the screen. Chrome Menu has the option for exiting too. You can also use a Keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+Q).
